A Success Story

I am starting this new blog with a very uplifting story. Kiiza’s mother died at birth. His father has no job and lives below the poverty line. We rescued Kiiza since he was 3 weeks old. He received medical attention and has been in and out of the hospital for the last 5 months. He had been severely malnourished since birth because he has a medical condition, not well defined yet by the local doctors, where his body was not taking in the nutrition needed to grow and develop. In addition, Kiiza has down syndrome. It had been a battle to do everything in our power to save his life, providing him with therapy to strengthen his neck and legs and assigned one caregiver only for him because he needed to eat day and night every 2 hours. A big HOWEVER is that Kiiza is gaining weight! his neck and legs are getting stronger, he loves to see other children around him, he is very alert and started to catch up with children of same age. When Kiiza was 5 months old his weight was 3kgs, now 3 months later, his weighs 7kgs. A difficult case but Kiiza is a warrior and we hope he will have the quality life every child deserves! Thank you, because with your generosity we are saving children’s lives.
