Stars Uganda mission is to transform the quality of life of the impoverished and most needy children, families and communities in Uganda; giving them hope and empowerment to lead a better life.
Who we are today
Stars Uganda is a non-profit based in Jinja. We provide urgent care for children under six who cannot remain safely at home. Our team meets their immediate needs with food, healthcare, early learning and emotional support. At the same time, we prepare families for reintegration and walk with them through every step until children can safely return home.
We are currently affiliated with H.E.L.P. International, a Colorado-based NGO with more than 20 years of experience in Uganda. While we manage our own funding and operations locally, this partnership has given us vital credibility with government and faith leaders. Later this year, we will also formalise our own NGO in the United States.
Our work focuses on three simple but powerful goals
Care and Stabilisation
Restore health, safety and trust through daily nutrition, medical care, early childhood development and loving, trauma-informed support.
Family Reintegration
Work with parents and relatives to build safe homes, offering training, guidance and where appropriate small microloans to strengthen their stability.
Community Strengthening
Partner with churches and leaders to run health clinics, workshops and sustainable farming projects that protect vulnerable children and improve family resilience.
The mission we are working towards
We know that caring for one child at a time creates ripple effects for whole families and communities. In the coming years we are working toward:
Increase our in-house children to 100 by 2029.
Increase Financial Support: To sustain and expand our impact, we aim to achieve a 20% growth in funding for our core programs.
Fundraising for Construction: Fundraise $450,000 for the construction of our purpose-built home on land recently gifted to us by the Diocese of Jinja, giving children a safer and more nurturing environment.
Agricultural Training & Expansion: Develop structured training programs for our poultry and vegetable garden workers to raise 5,000 chickens in the new home.
